Early induction due to large baby?

I am 32 weeks today and baby is already 5+ lbs, 2 weeks ahead. My due date was 8/25. 
I do not have diabetes and my pregnancy has been normal so far. Since day 1 my baby has been larger than average (90th percentile) so I knew this conversation was coming. 
My doctor told me that because he’s my first baby she recommends that I get induced at 37 weeks. However, I read that some babies have complications when born at 37 weeks. 
I have the last word but I’m truly scared... not sure what to do... 😓
Any advice from experienced moms?

I would read the article from Evidence Based Birth website on “big babies” and induction. It may help you make a decision you feel comfortable with. 
For me, induction will only happen if there is something going critically wrong with my pregnancy, and going overdue or having an estimated large baby aren’t things I consider critically wrong. You’re the mom and hopefully you trust your dr, but do some more research and decide for yourself.

My daughter was delivered at 37 weeks because she was growing big but I had gestational diabetes she was near enough 9pounds at birth she’s nearly 10 now and has never had any problems this time round I’m type 2 diabetec also 32 weeks baby is just over 4 pounds but they said they want to push it to 38 weeks to schedule me but might need to be done at 37 weeks 
Only recently I’ve read stuff online about complications of giving birth at 37 weeks it did scare me Abit but was speaking to my doctor yesterday she reassured me she did say that the baby’s lungs are fully developed at 37 weeks but they try to leave that extra week so they can mature Abit more but they only do deliver at 37 if the benefits outweigh the risks also told me if the baby grows too big it can cause more complications and risks 
So she said if I have to deliver at 37 she will give me steroid shots for the baby’s lungs (they never gave me nothing like that with my daughter) 
But I would like to make it to 38 but I’m not worried at all

Honestly, you just won’t know either way. We had a big baby boom within my friend group. My daughter arrived at 35 weeks with no complications, just small, and didn’t need NICU. Friends daughter arrived 35 weeks also, had to go to NICU for almost 2 weeks just because of feeding issues. Another friends daughter arrived around 36.5 weeks, no complications or NICU. Another friend had a baby girl at 38 weeks, had to go to NICU for a couple days for oxygen. Another friend had a baby boy at 38 weeks and had to go to NICU for a couple weeks and was on a ventilator temporarily. 
I’ll be honest and when I was admitted for preterm labor at 35 weeks I was asking my OB nurses what would happen, like did 35 week babies often need ventilators or just supplemental oxygen, ect. All the nurses were very honest and said that the odds were in my favor because I was having a baby girl and girls tend to do better prematurely compared to boys. They said white baby boys tended to do the worst out of premature babies.
And that isn’t meant to scare you or anything because also you can have complications from large babies too, so it’s a double edge sword. And you still have full term babies who go to NICU and preemies who go home right off the bat. It’s so hard to predict.
