Not a patient but I don't think families do at my hospital but they can stay up the road at the Ronald McDonald House

My hospital has smaller, very limited service rooms specifically for this. As in, you basically get tv and food and thats it. 
Call your hospital and ask if they do

Yes, I was allowed to stay in my room (but without any sort of service from them) so long as they didn’t need the room.

We slept in chairs in the nicu. I had a lounger chair, I had a c section so I wouldn’t have been able to stay if I couldn’t have kept my feet elevated.
