Pregnant and husband won’t help with cleaning!!

Kelly

Let me start by saying that I love my husband very much and he is a really supportive and loving person. We have a great relationship. But I am struggling a lot with getting him to help out around the house while I am pregnant. This has been going on for months now, and I just don’t know what to do! I normally take care of all the cleaning inside, and he does everything outside, including snow removal in the winter. It’s a good system. But since I am pregnant, vacuuming the house became very difficult for me, and I started cramping and getting sore after doing it. I asked if he could please take over this job for me, just while I am pregnant and recovering from birth. I physically can’t do it anymore. I still am doing everything else (dishes, sweeping, bathrooms, dusting, etc.) We have two cats and a dog so I typically vacuum the area rug, two bedrooms, and the stairs once a week. It takes roughly 30 minutes per week. It has just not been getting done. Hair and fur is everywhere and getting tracked all over the house. I tried reminding him gently. I tried writing it down for him, and picking one day a week for it to get done. I eventually get frustrated after 2-3 weeks of him not doing it and start nagging him. I know I am hormonal and nesting, but I seriously am at my breaking point. Any suggestions on what to do to get him to help out? It’s really not asking a lot, and I don’t want this to be an ongoing battle/argument with me constantly nagging him all the time. And it makes me worried that once the baby is here, if I need help doing things while I recover it will be the same situation. Me having to nag him all the time! Please help with suggestions!
