Why are co sleepers unsafe if they are sleeping in something like this?

The surface is flat the sides are breathable and it has its own space so you won’t roll on top of them or they won’t roll off the bed. What makes these unsafe?

Cause someone somewhere, while sleeping has knocked the entire thing off with the baby in it.

Nope I had one. I end up getting a co sleeper bassniet so not in bed with me but connects to your bed and sleeps by them self

It isn't unsafe unless the parent puts a blanket over it or knocks it off the bed by mistake. There's always those few dummies who give a product a bad rep by not using common sense.

As others said, if you put it on the outside of the bed, there’s a chance if it getting knocked off. If you put it in between you and your partner, there’s a chance of blankets ending up on top.

It’s not secured to anything. It can fall off the bed, pillows can end up in it, etc.
