Comparing prior cycles

Possible dumb question alert 🚨

So this is the 2nd cycle I’m temping so I’m still a little new at this. What are the benefits of comparing prior cycle temps to the current cycles? I’m assuming every cycles is going to be a little different with temperatures, are you looking for the same pattern to indicate you’re close to ovulating? Or is there no benefit to comparing prior temps for predicted ovulation in current cycle. Here are my current cycle and the last cycle I ovulated.
