Tips on how to discipline an 18 month old?

My daughter is starting to smack me in my face when she doesnt get her way. I'm a first time mom and I'm not sure how to handle it. I usually hold her hands and say, "No we don't hit". Is this right? Help I have no idea what I'm doing lol
Anyway even after doing that she still contimues to smack me. She's usually a very sweet girl. I'm watching her turn into a toddler before my eyes.

Ohhhhhh boy yes, the beginnings of independence and testing those limits
18 months could still be a little young for time outs, redirection is usually still the necessary lead here. Focus on CANs and not DON'Ts.
So if she hits you, show her "gentle hands", have her touch your face nicely. If this doesn't work, then continue to redirect and ignore the behavior you don't want.
Kids this age do something to get a rise out of you, if they misbehave you should be removing the problem item from the situation. 
So try to avoid putting yourself in the situation where she can reach to slap your face and offer options as much as possible. Don't say "we can't do that", say "we CAN do THIS or THIS" both being options you are happy to give. 
When you say "we don't hit" she hears "HIT", so saying "gentle hands" gives her something she CAN do. 
Hopefully this made sense! It's worked for my babies, it seems to be a typical phase and was recommended handling by my pediatrician. 💕

Following! My 18 month old daughter doesn’t hit me but as soon as I tell her no for doing something or if I call her and she doesn’t want to come she screams at the top of her lungs. Or when I have to undress her for her bath or to put pyjamas on she screams n throws herself down on the floor

Following. My daughter just turned 18 months and has been smacking and throwing things for a month now. I just had a baby so I know shes acting out because of that but I can not have her hitting and throwing things. when I tell her no sternly she laughs and thinks it’s a game 🤦‍♀️
