Am I wrong or is he just insecure?(UPDATE)

My sons dad invited me and our son to the zoo. He is now two years old so he’s at a good age. We never hang out by ourselves except for doctor appointments. We split 50/50 custody so I don’t get to see my son as often as I’d like so I take every chance to get him earlier than I should. My sons dad invited my boyfriend and his daughter to come with us but my boyfriend said no because his back hurts. Well now my boyfriend is pissed off that I’m going somewhere with my son alone with his dad even though it’s a public place and he was invited. He’s even more pissed off because we are carpooling. he lives a few streets away from us and we’re going to the same place so idk why it’s such a huge deal but he keeps saying that’s “weird”, he doesn’t know anyone else who does this, etc. Am I wrong for wanting to go or is he over reacting
Update : So he decided to message my ex best friend last night to complain about me. She fortunately texted me today to tell me. Which I find odd because she tells me and he doesn’t. She kept telling him that he shouldn’t be talking to her about our issues. I’m just pissed off. I don’t even want to look at him. To me THAT is shady. Should I. Dump him?

So he doesn't know anyone else that can effectively coparent ? That's his problem. It's SO important that you and the ex have a good relationship for the sake of your child. He was invited, he didn't wanna go. That's his problem.

Your BF is being immature.  I think it’s good that your sons father is making an effort and that you get along.  Also he invited your BF which he didn’t have to do.

My fiancé wouldn’t have a problem with that at all . He knows how I feel about my ex and he knows wed be going for our son . He would rather our son see us coparent and be able to get along than for us to always stay away from each other . He needs to be able to trust you .

I understand him being insecure because I probably would be too. But the reality is, your son’s dad is always going to be in your life. And it’s super important for your son to see his mom and dad together and treating each other well. You guys are setting the stage for his future relationships. So I think it’s very important that you do go!

I have a similar situation with my ex and current boyfriend. It took him a while but he understands that my good relationship with my daughters dad isn’t something to be worried about. He still gets uncomfortable but he knows that’s his own issues and doesn’t bring them to me.

I think it’s great your ex is trying to build a bridge between you and your partner. Doing joint things together can only strengthen the way you parent your child and showing them what a stable relationship is like between two people who aren’t together anymore and are able to be civil and raise their child together. The fact that he extended it to your partner and his daughter is a nice gesture on his behalf since your boyfriend is  in your life and it would be good to build civil relationships for the benefit of your kid
