Do you know your children’s SSN (ages 18+). Or does your parents know your SSN (18+)

I know it’s an odd thing to ask but I just wanted to know if parents remember their adult children’s SSN. Or the other way around if your parents know your SSN and you’re 18+. Little back story, husband is 28 and on deployment. His mother emailed him asking for his SSN because his sister wants him to be a contingent beneficiary on the mother’s life insurance. 
Yes you read that correctly- she isn’t asking him to be a beneficiary on her own life insurance- she’s only asking because his sister wants him to be one on the mother’s insurance. We are not on good terms with them and his mother has been doing suspicious things, also in legal battle against her. So much more to the story and she is not a good person.... So I just want to know in general do parents still keep that information?

My mom knows everything from the exact time I was born, weight and all that and my other 3 siblings lol moms remember stuff generally.

Yes. You have your children’s socials on your taxes and other important documents for banking, insurance, beneficiary purposes, etc. It’s not abnormal and yes I know my children’s socials. It is necessary on the type of paperwork his mother is talking about. If it’s for his sister, why not go through her of you don’t trust his mom? If there is bad blood and you’re not comfortable don’t give it to her. 
My MIL still had my husband’s (42) original social security card paperwork with his social written on it, until a month ago.

You shouldn’t need a SSN to be someone’s beneficiary. And my mom doesn’t know mine anymore but she did as a kid.

I know my kids because I received their info in the mail when they were each infants.. I am assuming my parents know mine because they gave me my card when I reached an age that I needed it (first job, college apps, etc.)...
If you are worried she can’t be trusted then ask for the name of her attorney so you can call and provide them the number directly. You can ask the attorney to keep it confidential and not to include the full number on copy.

Of course I know my kids SS#. It doesn’t change at 18, so why wouldn’t parents know it?  If his Mom was as trying to do anything shady, she wouldn’t need to ask for his social. All she’d need to do is pull out her old taxes from when she claimed him as a dependent. You seem paranoid.

I have his card, but I haven’t memorized his number. I have used it once, to add him as a beneficiary on my life insurance. I doubt my mom knows mine anymore. I would personally be very careful handing that info out, especially if she’s already doing weird stuff.

My mom thought she knew mine and then I saw on a form some random number and asked her what it was and she told me it was my social 😂I’d be surprised if she knew her own honestly

In my area it is not important to "remember it". But, I would say I still remember my houses phone number, we had a phone until I was 8-9, after that we got a "house mobile" that had a different number, and now I am 29, still can chant the long number if I want to.... So if parents have had the need to remember ssn for some reason and they remember ed it well then that is quite likely they remember it.
