Am I wrong for being jealous? Please read the description before voting and explain your answer.

Question

Okay so most of the people I know are getting married or engaged and I'm super happy for them but lowkey salty about it. I don't let my jealousy show to them cuz I genuinely am happy but I do complain to some of my other single or still dating friends. My gay friends Devin and Pierce got engaged a few months ago and married in June (They're 21 and 22). My other friends Vikk and Nico got engaged and married last month (19 and 21). My friend Jordan has been engaged for a few years now since he was 19 and my sister just got engaged at 20. I really want my bf to propose but I know realistically it's way too soon. We're only 18 and been together less than 3 years. I already know he's not ready yet and I in no way am rushing or trying to pressure him but I still really want to be married. We've discussed getting married in the future way before all of this started happening and I think I'm only feeling so jealous and impatient since so many people around me are doing it. So am I a bad person for feeling this or what?

Jealousy is normal but it’s good you don’t let that get in the way. At least you have a boyfriend lol. *cries in single* . But really, you’re still a teen, so don’t let that worry you right now

Marriage is supposed to be a big commitment, so it really is something you don't want to rush into. So it is OK to wait. It is tempting when you see couples all happy together. But in all honesty, it's only face value. You aren't happy all the time. You aren't fulfilled or satisfied all the time. You still experience loneliness. Marriage doesn't solve those problems, and I think that's why the divorce rate is so high. And I'm not trying to talk down about marriage. I'm married. I've been married almost 4 years. It's beautiful, but there are a lot of costs to marriage and it's OK to take your time with it. My husband and I have been through so many storms (death of mother, husband's cancer, death of pets, trying to conceive, etc.). It's great to have someone by your side, but it's not all happy like you see couples on social media. There's a lot that goes on behind it. You're not wrong for being jealous, but try to be grateful for the season you're in, and know that being married is not always better!

Being a little jealous is completely normal but since everyone is still pretty young I think it’s okay to not rush into a huge commitment. Plus marriage doesn’t make a relationship more meaningful. You can love each other so much and live with each other and basically act married without actually being married. I’ve been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and we are 19. I could imagine getting married or engaged yet for at least another 5 years. But we do talk about our future together. If you guys have talked about a future together I wouldn’t worry about it happening now but just wait for it when the time is right.

I think it is normal. My only sibling got married at 21 and his fiance was 20. My parents got married young too so I always wanted to get married young too. I am 19 and single as a pringle. As long as you don't let it affect your relationship it is okay. It is an important decision so understandably it shouldn't be rushed. Just try not to focus on it. Enjoy what you have 💖
