Religious teaching in schools
What is your stance on religious education in schools?
I don’t know what the education system is like for you, but when I was school it was very diverse. Kids from a range of religions, ethnicities and backgrounds. However we were taught about the bible and Christianity only. I know some people will argue that it’s a Christian country and they need to integrate into our way of life.
Yet there were lots of Hindu, Muslim and all other religions attending the school.
My personal feeling is all the major religions should be covered on a general basis to educate about all different religions and promote inclusivity and free thinking.
I feel like if you just teach the most popular or dominant religion of that area you’re just kind of forcing that religion on the kids.
why not touch on everything and let kids decide where they feel they fit in religious speaking?
I’m not religious anyway, so I feel like it should either be total removal of religious education or teach everything.
