Youre really not any more fertile...its just much harder to tell when youll ovulate and you will before your first pp period.

Until you get regular cycles, you could be fertile anytime. You aren't necessarily "more fertile" after giving birth. They just say that because you have no idea when you'll ovulate, since you typically ovulate before your period. And you'll always get your period about 2 weeks after you ovulate, so if you don't get your period for 3 months after you gave birth, you just hadn't ovulated yet, if that makes sense. But some women get it very quickly after, which is why you want to go with the assumption that you're always fertile. I tracked ovulation with bbt to conceive and prevent pregnancy before I got pregnant. And I was doing it again after I had my baby. I hadn't ovulated at all since giving birth almost 5 months ago. I just got my period a couple days ago, and it was actually anovulatory. So I haven't ovulated at all yet, and therefore, haven't been fertile this whole time. That's probably more info than you need to know. Basically, just assume you're fertile until you have regular cycles again.
