Babies don’t *need* anything but a car seat a bed and whatever supplies necessary for your choice of feeding (breast or bottle)

You need very few things at first. 
Somewhere for the baby to sleep , crib or bassinet, sheets
A few outfits (newborn size and 0-3 size)
Swaddles
A few bottles (even if you plan on breastfeeding)
Some samples of formula (sign up with enfamil and simulac) because a hungry baby at 3 am that refuse your boob is the worst. 
Diapers and wipes- newborns go through about 20 diapers a day but have newborn and size 1 diapers on hand
Free breast pump through your insurance 
A bath tub- for when they smear poo everywhere 
Soaps/shampoo 
Washcloths and towel (adult ones are fine but can be rough) 
Everything else can be bought as you need it.

There are basics and then there are things that can wait. Get your car seat, crib or bassinet, clothes, bath time stuff, blankets. Shit like that and then get the other, less urgent things. It’s really all up to your discretion and what you want. Not everything is essential. You don’t need a swing or a bouncer, though they are nice. I just started buying things too and my due date is November 9th!
