Unsuccessful epidurals but successful spinal?

Question

Anyone have unsuccessful epidurals but successful spinal block for csection? I had an epidural for my last 3 kids and it was never fully successful from only partial numbness to not at all. I'm worried that the spinal won't work as well. Then what happens? They put me under? Feeling nervous.

I had just the epidural and pain meds for my first. We also had 12 hours of labor then did a c section. I was knocked out for the surgery. I just had my second in June. Scheduled the c section and did a spinal. It was 1000000% better and I was able to stay awake the whole time and hear my LO. The recovery was much better also.

Yes! My epidural did at work at all, 36 hours of painful labor later, the spinal was amazing for my c section. I was terrified that it wouldn’t work and I begged to just have general anesthesia. But they explained that I would have to be in recovery much longer and wouldn’t be able to hold the baby right away, so I risked the spinal and I’m so glad I did!

I’ve had both and the spinal makes a huge difference. I had two spinals and didn’t have any issues and the doctors made sure I didn’t because of my first experience with a failed epidural that turned into me being out to sleep

I got an epidural that partially worked and then had to have an emergency c section. The epidural did NOT help during the surgery and they had to put me completely under. I think the spinal is way better for a c section but I haven’t personally experienced it. They’ll do a test to see if it’s working before cutting though.
