When is it safe to put a blanket on 1 yr old

As the title says when is ever safe? I'm new on all of this. My baby is 1 yr old and can sit up, roll around till this day my baby sleeps either with a wearable blanket or a onesie depending on the climate does sleep on a breathable mattress. When did you start covering baby with blanket?

We’ve done blankets with my baby since day 1. He wouldn’t sleep without it. He liked to pull it up to his face and snuggle against it - he was always good at pulling or pushing it away from
his face. At the same time a baby I watched for a few weeks, same age as my baby wouldn’t react at all if a blanket was over his face. He definitely went down without a blanket because I couldn’t trust him to react.

My kids use blankets since pretty young. My first wouldn’t sleep without it. He covered his face to fall asleep then I just moved it lol. He was 6 weeks when he started sleeping 8 hours 😊 & my daughter likes to snuggle with it (she’s 9 months) but she moves it to actually fall asleep.

But you know your child. 
We started younger with a light blanket around 8 months. He slept so much better.
