2nd time GD mamas - HUGE BABY at 26w
Hi girls,
I had insulin-dependent GD with my first baby and now (surprise) I have it again with my second. I was diagnosed early this time and (surprise) I’m insulin dependent again. Yes I’m following the diet but it still is requiring insulin for fasting and meals.
I saw my fetal specialist a few days ago and he said my babe is measuring at 99%ile for head and 97%ile for belly - overall he’s already almost 2.5 pounds!! HUUUGE!! I was surprised and terrified to say the least. My first baby birth experience left me with a 4th degree tear and forceps at delivery after 4 hours of pushing and it was absolutely the most painful recovery ever - I couldn’t sit for about a month. (Note: I empathize with c section moms, not trying to make this a competition).
Since my babe this time around is already so large- would they offer me a c section? I’m totally not against it at all! I’m more terrified of another traumatic birth.
I know this conversation is certainly one for my OB, which will absolutely be happening, but I’m asking for mom-advice here.
Has anyone had experience with this. Please help! Any advice welcome. Thanks.
