Should I get period underwear?

I feel like I'm wasting money on pads, I rarely bleed on them because I usually only bleed while I'm using the restroom. I wear them just to be safe but end up just throwing away clean pads. I want your thoughts on period underwear, are they comfortable? Are they reliable? What brand is the best and how many should I buy?

I use a menstrual cup with period undies as a backup and it works great! Highly recommend looking into the cup. There are tons on amazon... I’m currently using the Saalt cup and love it! I also have the Funcy period panties off amazon which have worked great so far. Just a word of caution about period undies... be prepared to battle swamp a$$ if you sweat even the smallest amount. Those puppies DO NOT breathe whatsoever. Lol Definitely not something you want to wear while working out or on a hot summer day hike!

For the money you'll spend on them...considering you aren't a heavy bleeder...I would suggest looking into a period cup instead. It's a one time by for at least 5 years and considerably cheaper than buying multiple pairs of period panties.

I tried period underwear but they weren't for me honestly. 
I found them to be a bit uncomfortable. Once you start to bleed you DO feel wet. You also feel paranoid, wondering if they are doing the job. They also DID leak on heavier days. Nothing major, but some leaking nonetheless.

In that case, period underware is a way to go. I use mine to back up my cup, just because I don't want to make trash as in a lot of liners (I don't even need them that much, but sometimes I don't catsch it on time and a cup leiaks a bit, and well I just need a back up on my heavy day).
