Son isn’t talking yet

Claire

My 11/5/18 baby still isn’t talking.

I need advice so I’m giving the facts of what our situation is:

-I’m a SAHM and he is my only child. Since COVID, he has not played with other children

-he still has a binky though I try to limit it to bedtime

-he makes eye contact, responds to his name, listens when I ask him to shut the door or get a toy or book, points at everything, cuddles, smiles, isn’t afraid of strangers, very busy energetic boy

-he knows 20+ animal sounds when asked, he can do vroom for cars, says “ball” but more like “bao” sounding, says mama for everything he needs and can’t reach to call me over, says bird but more like “birr” and tries saying “happy birthday” but more like “ahpee burr” and then blows the candles out. He waves bye and says bye bye like “buh bye” and says EIEIO. He knows dance moves to baby shark and the wheels on the bus and a few other songs, and he can recognize the letter O or any circle and says “oooh” and blows kisses.

other than this, he is not talking or repeating sounds. He obviously gets frustrated and has tantrums. I read to him and take him to the farm to see the animals and try to limit the tv time. Just hard when I rely on it to entertain him while I cook and clean.

Any other moms out there in similar positions that found something that works for them? Or any advice? My husband is against any therapy and I don’t know why, I would be open to anything that could help him. His mindset is he’ll talk when he’s ready, we already do so much to encourage his speech development. Just feeling like crap and comparing him to other kids his age and younger that are talking.
