When did your BOY start talking a lot?

My son is 20 months and talks gibberish non stop all day and knows a handful of words and animal sounds, but isn’t talking talking yet or repeating words. Ped said we’ll check back at 24 months. I am worried...

My son is 2.5 and has been starting to talk a lot and pick up on most words he hears through out the day, he will be 3 in December. He does have full conversations with me. I basically talk to him all day long ask him questions have him
Choose his foods shows etc. when we color or play i ask him what shape color or object something is and I noticed that helped him become very aware of everything he does and he likes to tell me exactly what hes doing now! Sometimes he does speak absolute gibberish though that leaves me puzzled lol. I also sing out a lot of sentences to him and now he does it and ive noticed it helps him retain a lot more words and how to pronounce them, it makes me
Giggle now because he’ll randomly start singing out a question to me. Kids move at their own pace! You can only do so much, encouraging as much communication as possible and reading often is just about all you can they will come around!

My son is 2 and we are really struggling.  He turned 2 in june and literally like the last week his words have changed so much. Like we are even in the process of speech therepy.  So idk im think im nb we will do it a couple of months so I can learn how they do it and just see if I can do it with him alone

My oldest went from yes/no/mum till 3-4 word sentences at 2,5 and is now talking non stop!

My son will be 3 next month and I noticed a big increase in the amount of words he could say at about 2 1/2. Sometimes he’ll surprise me with full on sentences that I completely understand (I was talking to my husband about how hot it was a few months ago and he jumped in and said “yeah, it is hot, but it’s starting to cool down a bit”) and other days I can hardly understand a word he says. Just recently he started having a stutter or draws out his first word but I was told it’s normal around this age when their brains are working faster than their mouths. 3 out of my 4 kids (2 girls & 1 boy) didn’t talk much until almost 3 years old but were very mobile from a young age and my daughter that started talking a lot very early ended up crawling, sitting up, and walking much later than her siblings.

My son was 20 months this week. He talks a lot of gibberish also. He has a lot of words and sounds in his vocabulary. He’s always been on track with the number they say he should know but just in the last two weeks I’ve noticed him picking up even more and repeating what we say. He’s also started saying I love you mommy when I tell him too. He started back to daycare last week so I think being around other kids is what caused his increase in words. 
I think your son is probably fine. Just keep talking to him. It takes some kids longer. I’ve been struggling with not comparing mine to another little boy I had custody of before. That little boy could talk almost perfectly in full sentences by 2. I also have a cousin that didn’t really talk until 4 so you can’t really go by what other kids are doing. Do you see any other concerns with him other than talking? If not, he’s probably just taking a bit longer than you think is normal.

I have 2 boys. My first was talking a ton by 12 months, hasn’t stopped since. My second is 15 months and has 2 words and just does not care at all about talking. At his 1 year visit he had zero words and his pediatrician said he needed 2 by the 15 month visit. He has his 2 and his next goal is 10 words by his 18 month visit. So I’ll worry if we’re not at 10 in November.

If he’s saying a few words I wouldn’t panic yet as he may be due for an explosion soon - a lot really progress from 18m onwards- but talk to a speech pathologist if you have concerns- speech therapy is fun (they make it like games) so it won’t harm your child in any way, it will only benefit them. If he didn’t need it as he was due for an explosion anyway then you’ve just done a fun activity together. If he did need it then early intervention can make a huge difference to long term outcomes.
