PCOS Mamas?

I just went to my 32 week Appt and was told that breastfeeding can be more challenging for women with PCOS, which I have. I have never heard this and just had confidence in my ability to breast feed. However, my breasts haven’t really grown. They have been sensitive since conception, but no sign of milk coming in. 😖 I am pretty upset that this is all making sense now. Any Mamas out there with PCOS? What was your breastfeeding experience?

I have PCOS and never heard this. Can’t attest with any anecdotal stuff since I had preeclampsia. The mag, bp meds, and separation (nicu) pretty much kills many women’s supply and production.

I have PCOS and I'm still nursing my 20 month old. Due with number 2 in just about 9 weeks. The only reason it can be more difficult for women with PCOS to breastfeed is if their PCOS caused insufficient glandular tissue in their breasts. It's a rare side effect of PCOS so definitely keep up your confidence a out bfing and make sure to utilize the resources you have in the hospital and after! Make sure you connect with an IBCLC to help and answer any questions/concerns you have.

I have pcos and I managed to breastfeed my son. My milk came in fine and I had plenty of it. I did have issues with him latching but he was a cesearean baby and had a bit of tongue tie we got around it with a nipple shield.

I’ve never heard of this either! 
I’ve had plenty of breast growth but no leaking, but that isn’t unheard of. The hormonal surges after birth are often enough on their own to kickstart lactation.
I will have a lactation consultant on hand in my hospital and I’ll be sure to make use of them!
Fingers crossed it’s a non issue, but if push comes to shove I don’t care what fills my baby’s belly, as long as it fills that belly!

I don’t have pcos but with my first my boobs didn’t really grow and I didn’t produce milk in pregnancy. I breastfed just fine. Just so you’re not worried, please know that your milk doesn’t come in the first few days anyways. The baby is just fine with the colostrum so don’t worry

I have PCOS and have never heard of this before either. Like you, my breasts haven’t grown. I was very asymmetrical to begin with, and pregnancy seemed to make that worse as only my left breast grew a little bit, but then went back to normal size a few weeks ago. 
I understand exactly where you’re coming from. I want to be able to breastfeed or at least to produce enough to pump and feed my kiddo.
