Colitis?

Question

So I got diagnosed with colitis and was put on several antibiotics. I never had it before and alot of what I read is that it can be chronic? So is it? I also would like to mention I have a great grandmother who struggled with it and her sister as well. Any recommendations to what I could do and any opinions? I am going to do a follow up with my doctor like the ER recommended, but I'm curious to others opinions.

It sucks. I have it. I stay away from red meat, corn, dairy and anything high in fiber. Stress can really trigger mine. Everyone is different. If I’m having a bad attack I can’t eat or drink anything and am miserable for days or weeks. Listen to your doctor but sometimes you have to find what works best for you. The medicine I was taking was $45 for a months supply which helped a lot and then when we moved and I had to switch insurance it went up to $120 for 20 pills... so I no longer take medication for it and manage it by diet. I have to get colonoscopys every 5 years as well.

So there’s different kinds of colitis. Sometimes it’s a chronic autoimmune disease and sometimes it’s basically a form of the stomach flu. 
I was diagnosed in November and they didn’t specify. Ended up being the viral version and I’m fine now. 
Gotta go a dr for follow up to find out which

Go on an autoimmune paleo diet and use a lot of gut healing nutrients. Do anything to reduce inflammation in your body and it will ease
