Stay or leave work?! 21 wk

Question

I work with very aggressive kids, I get hit and kicked and slapped and etc you name it. My fear is a kid kicking me in my stomach or throwing stomach at me and I loose my child. DH wants me out of work but I just don’t have the heart to quit or leave the kids. I asked OB for advice and simply said it’s my job she can’t write me out unless I have preterm labor history and high blood pressure etc. I’m high risk and multiple miscarriages and preterm labor but I don’t know do I stay or leave.

I would talk to your administration about your concerns and see what they can do. I have a similar job and we developed a new protocol where if a student started to escalate, we called down support staff and I would leave the room. I tried to stay with the kiddo until they would actually become agressive with me. Usually there was enough time for somebody else to get there before I had to leave because they started with trashing the room.

I have works with children with high risk and I was so good at what I did I stated working with very aggressive kids as big or bigger than me. Thankfully I decided to take a break as a nanny before I found out I was pregnant ive always said i couldnt imagine being pregnant and working in that field. I would say if u could afford being off i would do that because youre just going to get bigger and less reactive due to immobility

Can they change you to a less high risk role? If not then you need to leave. Baby first

I was in the exact same situation. Where I worked there were even instances of staff having to go to the emergency room from children punching them so hard in the stomach. I didn’t want to leave, but that plus some management issues changed my mind 😞 I still miss my kiddos every day though
