How long does ovulation last??

I am 11 days late. I went to the doctor on the 8th to check hcg and progesterone levels. I got my results on the 9th. I was not pregnant but I was finally ovulating. My husband was at work, it had been about 24 hours since I had blood work done at this point. The doctor said my progesterone levels were as high as they were going to get. Later that night, on the 9th we did the baby dance. Do you think I missed my ovulation period because we had to wait until he got home? We have been trying for 8 months.
