Is it hard going from one kid to two?

How difficult mentally is it going from a mom of one to a mom of two? I have a almost 4 year old & my loved one and I are trying for his first and my second & I always think In the back of my mind “how’s the transition”. Any experiences you all would like to share?

It was more difficult going from 0-1 than 1-2 for me. My oldest was nearly 3 when her brother was born and she was super helpful. We included her on almost everything we did with the baby.

I agree it was harder to go from 0-1 than 1-2. Our kids are two years apart. My biggest advice is to make sure your older one feels included in helping with the baby but also gets your undivided attention. For us, we make sure bedtime is still his time and our daughter is in the swing.

Difficult for me, probably because the first two are 6 years and 5 days apart. The oldest was the only for so long that she is still having trouble adapting to having a sister even 23 months later. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and so glad the two younger will be close in age.

For me it’s been way harder going from 1-2. Partly because this time I’ve been a stay at home parent. I think it would have been a lot easier if I was working. I’ve had major depression after the second also which made it worse.

It was difficult for me, my daughter was 3 when I had my son and I thought the age gap would help with the transition but it didn't. Although my daughter loved to try and help and is better now in the beginning she acted out a lot and it didn't help that my second isn't a very good sleeper at all so I was tired a lot and let go of any routine we had before he was born. My son is 8 months almost 9 and we still haven't gotten into a good routine with both kids. It's hard.

0-1 was harder in terms of giving up lifestyle. 
1-2 was very hard our first week home. My son was only 14 mo, 15mo now. We also had a week long NICU stay which created some separation anxiety from my son. We have been home for 2 weeks and I try very hard to leave his routine as close to normal as possible. And include him with his sister. He “helps” with diaper changes and likes to help by giving her paci to me when she’s upset. I also let him sit next to me while she nurses. I try to make him feel as included with her and I as I can. I also make sure to give her to my husband or put her in swing so I can play with him or snuggle.
