I'm losing my mind

A long one but I really need some help.

My almost 13 month old has been sleeping in her own room since she was 6 months old. She sleeps on a mattress on the floor and we completely baby proofed her room, complete with a gate. So she can easily get in and out of bed on her own and play in her room until she falls asleep or when she wakes up in the morning.

I keep her room pitch black at night (her walls are filled with glow in the dark stars but those fade throughout the night). She usually wakes up 1-4 times a night but she'd always pass right out after breastfeeding. But lately she's been waking up screaming and crying and I have to calm her down to actually be able to nurse her and even then she won't sleep and really clings onto me.

I remember reading something while I was pregnant on Taking Cara Babies on how little ones aren't inherently afraid of the dark but it's that the develop their imagination, and I'm thinking this is what's wrong? If so, can anyone recommend a good wireless night light? TIA!
