How did you know your baby was teething & how long before the tooth came in?

I’m at a loss of why my baby has been SOOOO fussy the last few weeks which isn’t like him. He cries all the time and occasionally rubs his ears but there’s no temp or any other sign of an ear infection. He does chew on stuff but no like a crazy non stop amount. He’s 5.5 months by the way. I’m a FTM and idk if he’s teething or what! His night sleep has been the same, 1-2 wakings. Naps have been a little worse but that’s it. We’ve already gone through the 3-4 month sleep regression.

Could be teething, but could also be a leap. I highly recommend the Wonder Weeks app. It’s worth the .99 cents! It’ll tell you when baby is having a developmental leap and what to expect!

Drooling starts around 8 weeks, teeth or no teeth. My son started showing clear signs of teething at 4 months though and didn’t cut his first two teeth until 8 months. I second getting the wonder weeks app. You feel like you’re going insane with fussiness and then wonder weeks is like “btw, your baby is in a leap, expect them to be fussy and plan for no sleep” 🤣

I know both mine drool a lot and are fussy. They also chew on their hands or toys. My first started teething around 2 1/2 months and I could start seeing a tooth a couple weeks before she was 4 months. My second is 11 weeks and she has started drooling excessively, fussy and has been chewing on her hands. I’m assuming she will get a tooth in the next month or so.

Could be teething. A good way to check is to run your finger over his gums you can feel any teeth that are close to the gums.
