My mom and I wanna go to the beach for 2 nights, and I have to ask my coworkers to cover/switch my shifts or I can’t get time off. I messaged, asking the one other night shifter since it’s my best bet for getting time off. I offered to switch and take 2 of her nights during the week so neither of us would lose hours. She could have said no in a better way. The way she declined was so rude and bratty. I saw her tonight for the 2nd time. First time was last week (I’ve never seen her at the meetings despite her working here for a month) and she had the worst attitude with me. She didn’t know who I was so when I introduced myself as the other night shifter, she just gave me this weird look and rolled her eyes like she didn’t believe me. I was just trying to gossip about how sometimes night shift can get some weird customers, and she just did not want to interact with me. Sorry I’m trying to be nice and get to know you? I don’t get to interact with anyone since I work nights by myself. Like, I wanna have a good connection with all my coworkers and she just pushed me off and was being stuck up. When I brought up our boss was thinking about switching me to weekdays, she rolled her eyes and gave me a look like she hated me for taking her shift. She would be moving up to day shifts, which is what I would prefer. I don’t see why she’s mad at me, like I personally asked to me moved. Yeah I want more than 18 hours, but I’m not gonna cry and throw a fit if it doesn’t happen. It was my bosses decision.
