Newborn and daycare.

Brittany

So, my husband and I talked about child care options. He works Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm. I start my new job and don’t know my schedule, I just know I work 7a-7p, 3 days a week for 6 weeks during training and then I’ll start my normal schedule of 7p-7a. My husband wants to put our daughter in daycare when she’s 6 weeks or so old (that’s when I start my job). He likes the idea of daycare because it’s regulated. We did research and only chose from the best rated daycare facilities in our nearest town.

I personally want a babysitter, but they can tend to be unreliable sometimes. And I do like the idea of a place being regulated.

But it seems like a lot of people think it’s a very bad idea to put a newborn or even 0-6 month old babies in daycare.

We don’t have family that could just watch her when we need someone to watch her. We did a tour yesterday of the daycare we would put her in and they seemed really good.

At this daycare, she would be the only newborn to be there. There is one other baby, but he’s 8 months old. And that’s all that’s in the nursery at this daycare at the moment. It makes me feel like people really don’t like the idea of a newborn or infant to be in daycare and that’s why there wasn’t many in this daycare.

What are your thoughts on newborn/infants going to daycare?
