What age is it safe for a baby to sleep with you?

We are wanting to start traveling again (camping) and I am wondering what age is it safe for a baby to sleep in a bed with us? Theoretically on a blow up mattress between both of us. I’ve recently read after market pack and play mattresses are not safe, so wondering what our options are for travel.

I’d say if you are going to sleep with them a blow up mattress is not a safe option because if it’s deflates at all at night it will be very dangerous for baby in the middle. I also wouldn’t put baby in the middle of you guys but on the side of you 😊 we went camping with baby girl at 10 months and did this.

We took my son camping for the first time when he was about 10 months. My husband and I have our inflatable camping mats and my son sleeps in his travel crib that we set up next to my mat (we have a four person tent so it is snug, but we all fit). This system has always worked really well and I don’t have to be up all night worrying about crushing him. I’ve never felt comfortable with co-sleeping with my son as my brother-in-law is a paramedic and has way too many horror stories about people rolling over on their babies when they sleep, but I am a worrier so I know that’s not the case for everyone.

Day 1, but make sure the air mattress is in good condition and doesn't deflate over time. Anormal bed is fine, but an air mattress can be a little more wiggly and dangerous if it doesn't stay firm the whole night. If you have worries they also make these things that go between you for baby to sleep in (can't remember what they're called). Also, can just you and your husband try out the air mattress at home one night?

I wouldn’t ever sleep with a kid under 3 or do on a blow up mattress. A pack and play mattress on the ground would be fine

Pack and play mattresses are approved for safe sleeping, they just “warn” they’re only for supervised sleep to cover their asses.  You just have to make sure it fits firmly in your pack and play without leaving any gaps.  Ours fits in nice and tightly so it’s not a concern.   
Beyond that, I have bed shared following the safe sleep 7 since a month old, but I probably wouldn’t sleep on an air mattress with baby until 2 as they’re really not stable imo (were campers so I have used many over the years)
