I haven’t had sex in a year and they say having sex is what causes BV. I got antibiotics for it but just  wondering what might cause it. My pH was off and my STD screening is clear

Sex is not the only cause of bv, not sure why your doctor is saying that. Especially when you haven’t been sexually actively for some time. It’s a pH imbalance and overgrowth of bad bacteria. This can happen due to hormonal changes, sex, laundry detergent and soaps, using certain birth controls, etc.

I got bv about 6 months ago, I hadn't had sex in over 3 years. As the other commenter said  you can get it from other things including having a bubble bath, basically anything that throws of the ph balance can cause it. Mine was caused by the medication I was on at the time.
