should I feel bad for cheating in algebra?

Please don’t judge me too harshly and please read the whole post before voting. Thank you.
So, basically I have found a website that gives me the answer to any algebra question. I have been using it on my homework because I don’t understand anything and I get severe anxiety when it comes to math. I’m starting to feel kind of bad, but I really can’t fail the class. I feel like throwing up due to my stress from the class and probably due to my guilt too. Is it really as big of a deal as I think, or is this something that pretty much everyone does? Thanks in advance for commenting.

You’re cheating yourself and your learning. The purpose of homework is to practice the skills and learn the material. You’re doing neither. It’s okay to not understand, but then advocate for yourself and ask for help. Teachers use homework as a way to gauge if students are comprehending prior to a large assessment, such as a test. You having all correct answers tells your teacher you fully understand the material. Then when you bomb the test because you actually don’t understand and have been cheating, the teacher is going to be putting in a lot of time and energy trying to figure out what went wrong with the test. Plus, your stress will go up because you’ll have failed the test and your grade will drop. The way to not fail the class is to bust your butt to learn the material. Go in before school, after school, study hall, lunch - any time the teacher is available for help. And if the teacher refuses, ask a different teacher for help. Don’t give up on yourself by cheating.

I’ve cheated my way through a biology class once because it was online. I don’t regret it, but if I were to go into something involving biology, I feel like I would be behind on what I should’ve retained. But if you have no desire to use algebra in a career, I don’t see it being bothersome

Meh. Fuck algebra. I never understood it. I’m smart and I just do not understand math. I can’t remember the steps to solve a problem. I think it had something to do with my terrible memory. I wouldn’t feel guilty at all. Never once have I used algebra in my life. Plus...if you can find the answers online during school, that means you can find the answers online in the real world too. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Using it to do your homework is very common and not technically what I would call cheating.  HOWEVER, your really just hurting yourself in the long run because you won't have that website available to help with tests or quizzes so you won't be able to do the problems.  Try to work the problems yourself while using the answers to check your work/understand the material better.  This is the difference between someone just trying to do the bare minimum and someone trying to learn.  I promise that with effort and practice you CAN get better and more comfortable with the math.  Don't sell yourself short and good luck!

Honestly, it doesn’t matter girl. People will say you’re cheating yourself out of learning but honestly math is only so useful as an adult. You can always pick it back up and learn again later. School is so rigged in so many ways that a little cheating here and there isn’t a huge deal. 
You can feel a little disappointed or guilty, but it’s not worth beating yourself up over. Just do your best and it’ll be ok! :)

Math is sequential so if you don’t understand something now, the next math class with probably give you trouble too, and the next class after that. You’ll remain stuck. Get some tutoring so that you’re not cheating yourself, you may or may not need more math knowledge but know that it’s not that you’re not smart enough or are bad at math you just need some help to get the understanding and move forward.

Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s okay to cheat. Academic dishonesty can get you in MASSIVE trouble. It’s fine to use it to help you understand how to get to an answer but to straight up do 0 work and put 0 effort is wrong. 
You won’t get far without math if you want to do any tech/science/finance/math field. High school basics are definitely a huge help with it comes to college. If this is college..oh man, good luck 😰

Im not going to vote but honestly I took algebra in 9th grade, meaning it was a pre-req for ALL of my high school math classes & even college. I really struggled at the beginning of the year & I stayed after ONE day and had 1:1 tutoring with my teacher and I got it, it just clicked. I did well that year and went on to all of the other Math classes that I needed after. honestly just ONE hour after school and it all clicked for me. I struggled in school but if i can learn it, I'm sure with the correct resources you can too. Dont stress it to much because I honestly dont use algebra now. But for whats best for you I think you should ask for help.  You got this.

Girrrl. I skipped a whole college class because I scored so high on my placement test. I probably answered a dozen questions. The rest was a math app and google lol
