“How was the appointment?!”

I’m not sure why everyone always asks me. 
Today was my last one. I’ve been outspoken that I don’t do cervical checks and that my dr even advises against them after the first one (to check babes position), as they mean literally nothing in regards to when labor will come. 
My MIL was like “How did everything go!? (Hubby) was no help. He just said normal???”
Like... idk man. Normal. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️
They check my blood pressure and baby’s heart. What do people expect you to say? 😂
This is baby number two, so maybe I’m just not as “excited” or something. 
Like, we’re still just waiting. It’s “normal.” 😬🙃

Ummmm I think the hormones might be at play a bit here, I really don’t think people are asking for details about your cervix or anything, it’s just polite when people know you have an appt to ask how it went.... you can just say “great! Everything’s still good!” Or better yet, if you’re having that big of an issue with people asking you, why tell them you even have an appt in the first place?? Just saying, take a deep breath and relax, it’s nice to have people who care!

Hopefully it’s just in the context of asking how you’re doing and making conversation! I usually say similar things, went well, heard the babies heartbeat, no concerns!

I feel like everyone asks then immediately has to put their 2 cents on whatever is said. Example: "I'm 3cm dilated." Person: "I walked around like that for weeks!"
It's really getting on my nerves lol. I've just started saying "Baby looks great!"

Right!! 🤣🤣 My mom asks me after every appointment how things went, like ummm... Just fine, normal?? I mean all they do is check my weight, babies heart beat and my BP... What else am I suppose to say!!??? And this is my 3rd pregnancy too!! 🤦 What really gets me is family and friends who ask at random times how baby is doing today? Ummm, fine? Idk!! 🤦

I’m in the same situation as you. Last appt. is later today and my MiL will do the same thing. It’s like she magically thinks they gave me some special info that I’m not giving her. 
This is my second baby as well and I’m really excited for him to be here but I would be ok if everyone else would just leave me alone 😂😂

Omg my in laws do the same everytime. Like what do you want me to say??? I got a thick cervix and it’s only open a little?? I really don’t want to talk about my insides with my in laws😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I think it’s nice that people ask...obviously they care. Having a baby is such a special thing and I often think people enjoy sharing their own experiences because it’s likely a good memory for them. It doesn’t mean it’s something you have to listen to, but they probably just care. Also, a lot can happen at a doc appt so if your blood pressure is good, baby is well, and there aren’t any concerns, then that’s probably something that someone who cares about you, wants to hear.

I could’ve written that! I’m 39+4 and haven’t had a cervical check. My appointments are literally my blood pressure and baby’s heartbeat being checked. No news to share ever 🤷‍♀️
