How long does a teething session last?

FTM and I feel completely lost about teething. I’m pretty sure my 6 month old is teething and he’s sucking/chewing on everything and drooling an excessive amount! He’s also super fussy in the late afternoon/evening so I called his doctor & they said to give a little bit of infant Tylenol and it helped a ton. But I don’t want to keep giving it to him every day but it’s hard to figure out if he’s in pain or just fussy. I have teething toys which help sometimes. We’re going on day 3 now. I also should add that the fussiness is new, he’s usually a happy baby 
Appreciate any tips/guidance you have!!

The painful part of teething where the teeth are coming through the gums only lasts a few days. 
Having said that, drooling and putting hands in the mouth are normal baby behavior and not necessarily indicative of teething.

I have had the same concern. Now that my guy is sprouting teeth #3+4, I’ve noticed the most real pain is once his gums are visibly swollen or I can feel the sharp teeth starting to poke through. I thought he was teething a few weeks ago but nothing popped through and then just last night he woke up at 11 pm hysterical. Today I see swollen gums very noticeably and will give him Motrin the next few nights.

My son's on his second round of teething. The first one lasted about 2 weeks, we're around 2 weeks now for this second one and he's still in a bit of pain here and there. He's getting two teeth currently and one is almost through
