Can i do this or not?

I have a clinic I go to for my pregnancy. My insurance said that genetic testing is covered as long as my doctor sends in a request. Someone at my doctors office said they don't do that, that my insurance either pays or don't. So is it possible to just go to another clinic just to get the genetic testing one where they will request it? I don't want to switch clinics but do want the test. I don't know how I go about this I'm so confused.

You would have to transfer your care completely to another clinic. Another doctor won’t order the test for someone who isn’t their patient.

Who did you speak to at the doctors office? I would ask your insurance exactly which form they need and give it to your doctor to complete. My midwife literally had to check 2 boxes and sign it. I faxed it back to insurance myself.

Is your doctor offering alternative?
Like a NT scan? Then there is no need for genetic testing anyway.

I am not sure where you live, but for me, in Canada, I had to pay for the PGD (they have to send it out to the states) and then technically the results were inconclusive, so when we got pregnant at 9 weeks with did the NT scan and that was covered with the special blood test.. technically we wouldn’t have been covered, but because it was inconclusive, we were ok to have the NT covered../

Maybe clarify what they mean by request? Like do they just mean the doctor has to sign the paperwork for the testing to be done, or they need an actual note from your doctor to the insurance company? Also, I’d speak directly w the doctor about it, and not the clinic staff, the answer may be different
