2 year old gets carsick

I'm not sure how big he is right now. He turns two at the end of the month, but he has started getting carsick. Its about 40 to 50 minutes round trip to drop my daughter off for gymnastics class and thats just past his cutoff he ends up throwing up. I'm tired of stripping the carseat. Would you turnhim forward facing? Does it even help?

Here was his size at 18 months
