Anyone else have fibromyalgia?

I’ve been suffering since 2013 and was finally officially diagnosed after ct scans, mris, x rays, numerous blood tests (too many to count) regarding my daily pain. Some days are better than others. My mom also suffers from this and now I understand why she was always so grumpy when I was younger. She was tested for ms but they couldn’t find anything.

I used to her bad migraines in Canada but I moved to another country so they have improved and are not as frequent but man... the joint and muscle pain is what gets me. Every single joint in my body hurts and muscles. It’s mainly the joints. I was tested for rheumatoid arthritis so I was cleared of that.

I quit my horrible demanding job to be with my baby for a year and I need to look for a new job soon. I remember how much pain I was in at my last job and because it involved a lot of typing and sitting all day in uncomfortable chairs it was hell and I felt like a burden to the company since there would be days I’d underperform or ask for permission to bring in my own computer accessories to help. I know they were happy when I quit since the one who hired me said if she knew about my fibromyalgia she wouldn’t have hired me.

Pain pills don’t help and neither does anti depressants... those just made me numb and feel depressed. Where I live they do have medical marijuana but that just triggers my anxiety 😭

Would a job with less sitting be better?Or what about a self employed job, if you're your own boss you can be flexible and pace yourself more. I also suffer chronic pain and being my own boss was better, I had a home child minding buissness for a while. That was fine. As I'd be educating, entertaining, feeding, reading to my own children anyway!

I realize this post is old. But I wanted to mention Live Ops if you’re still looking for work from home jobs in customer service. You can schedule yourself in 30 minute increments so you can be sure you get breaks. I have CFS and fibromyalgia and I have worked from home for years. It’s the best thing for people with chronic illnesses 😁

Unfortunately standing doesn’t help either. And where I live because I’m a foreigner and don’t know the language, being my own boss would be hard. I need to stick with American companies with customer service jobs.
