My husb just told me he’s struggling with a drug habit and could no longer hide it. Initially, I thought he was seeing someone else. He says no one else knows about it except the dealer. I’m close with his sisters. Should I let them know?

We have been together since I was 18. I’m 35 and he’s 41. He even said that a guy told him once he lost his whole family behind the same drug. He doesn’t know why he does it besides tell me he spaces out. This man has a life millions could dream of...and this is really a case where money cannot buy happiness. He says he needs help. Don’t know what to do.

Have him get psychological help. Addiction is a mental health issue. He needs to find out the root of the problem and fix things from the inside out. I wouldn't involve anyone else unless he was okay with it

I don't think you should tell the family, yet. He took a big step admiting this to you. First help him find help. While being there for  him, encourage him to tell the family. I also encourage you to speak to someone to help you through this as it may not be easy.

No. He opened up to you, you're going to break his trust if you tell other people. He's a grown man, if he wanted other people to know he would have told them himself.
It's great that he admitted this problem to you, he can work on getting himself clean now with your support.

I can offer some advice because I have been in this exact situation.
Ask him if he wants to truly change and what made him come to you now. Rehab and counseling will only work if an addict is willing to accept help and work the program to better their life. 
Addiction recovery is not a one size fits all. If he is truly willing to change and leave the drug behind, try to enroll in a dual diagnosis center. 90% of the time addiction is a symptom of a larger mental health issue.
Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT tell anyone else without his permission. He came to you because he trusts you. Do not shatter that bond. If you need someone to talk to, seek out an Al Anon meeting in your area. You'd be amazed how many others are going through you same situation. I was shocked but it helps immensely.

I wouldn’t blast his news to the entire family. That very well could help make things worse and cause him to start pushing him away. Hopefully he’s able to get the help he needs and deserves!

Addiction doesn’t see money. He won’t be the first and he won’t be the last. It has nothing to do with material possessions, family, or anything that would “satisfy” your average person. You shouldn’t tell his family. That’s his place, not yours. 
I suggest you get some help too. There are many places (online now especially) that guide family of loved ones who suffer from addiction. They will take your hand. It gets deep.

He needs rehab and immediately. If he’s opening up to you I hope he’s willing to get help. I couldn’t be with anyone who was addicted to drugs and my husband and I have been together for 18 years so I get that there is so much there between you two...but I’d have to tell my husband he either needs to commit to serious help or we would be separating. I know that sounds harsh but I couldn’t watch someone I love that much do that to themselves and I will not allow my children to watch it either. Things will go two ways: he’ll either get help or he’ll get worse and need stronger drugs.
