Shoe help!

So my 18 month old just got new shoes last weekend... they measured him at a 8 so I got 9 wide (shoes were made small) but his pinky toe is rubbing the side of the shoe and his big toe is very close to the front of the shoe. I can tell now because his feet made indents in the memory foam. He keeps pulling them off at school like it’s hurting his feet. Not sure if they measured wrong or it’s just the shoe I bought. Any recommendations on a shoe place to take him to that can help us? I want to get stride rite, I’ve heard they are good fo wide feet and his are also very thick. I’m so confused. I saw on stride rites website that a Dillard’s near me sale them so we are going today. I really need help on getting him in some comfortable shoes!!!
