Blanket or NO Blanket

Hey moms.. I’m a first time mom and I was wondering.. do newborn babies need to be covered with a blanket when they sleep? I’m afraid baby will be cold at night but I don’t want him to get tangled or something. What should I do?

No, you never put loose blankets or toys into the bed with a baby prior to 12 months of age. Just dress baby in footed pajamas and use a sleep sack or swaddle. My son really likes the Halo sleep sack with swaddle.

This with a long sleeve onesie. I encourage that you look up safe sleep. Things like bumpers, blankets, loose swaddles, stuffed animals and pillows are a suffocation risk.

Here the recommendation is a baby sized duvet from birth - worked brilliantly with my oldest, hopeless with my youngest so bought him a sleep sack (from easygrow)

We use Halo swaddles and then sleep sacks once they outgrow the swaddles. Both our kids liked having their arms out from a young age, so we just swaddle their cores.
