Help regarding potential loss of coil

Hi ladies, needing some help.

I had a late misscarriage at 12 weeks at the beginning of March this year, we then decided it was a good idea to get contraception to allow time to heal. I would have been due our baby in 2 and half weeks time, as the weeks have gone by its been hell. We had decided to try again, and have the copper coil removed. Last thursday I attended my doctors appointment to have the coil removed, and had a smear test done as well at the same time. She proceeded to do smear test first, in which she said it looks like I have an erosion on my cervix, one blow of bad news. She then proceeding to attempt to remove the coil, the which she couldn't find it at all, after searching for around 5 minutes she couldn't locate. And told me it looks like it's fallen out 🤔😏 erm Im pretty sure I would have known if it had fallen out, its been 8 months since I had it inserted.

I'm due to have a pelvis examination and scan on Wednesday 21st to try and determine location of the coil.

I'm wondering if any other ladies have experiences this, what was the outcome? Im wondering if anyone has had a coil fall out before or if it moved to a different location?
