When did baby need a room?

So we are having our baby New Year’s eve. We currently live in a 2 bedroom apt. But we have a friend who lives with us In our spare room and bath. We got an apartment we could afford but she asked if she could stay with us help us pay our mortgage and so she pays $500 a month which helps us save that money! So it’s great! But I know eventually baby will need her own room. I want to prepare all of us for that. I want our friend to be able to stay as long as possible because honestly it’s nice 😅 so when did you feel like you could no longer share a room with your little one? Note our master is a good size and we can fix a full sized crib nicely. Also both her and my husband work. My husband 6-3 and her 7-6 cause she works farther away in town. So just me and baby girl for naps. I think more so I’m thinking when did you and your spouse need your space back... 6m? A year? More?

I guess it depends what you are comfortable with.  I try to move the baby out of our room by 6 months.  But I know people that have their kids in their room for years.

Baby doesn't "need" a room at all. It all depends on you. It is advised to keep baby in your room up to a year anyway, but you can keep baby there much longer if you want to or need to. My parents had one bedroom appartment my whole life, just didn't have money for a bigger one. And they had four kids. We all turned out fine.

My kids are still in my room, 3 years old and almost 1 year old.. So I personally would let them stay🤷🏻‍♀️ We are fine in our 1 room

I would say around six months it’s nice to have that option.

I'd say 4/5 years old because the room will sit there unused because they find a way back into your room every day/night, so if you can save that money, do so. Babies want to be close to their mother and will still end up in your bed. Lol 🤷‍♀️ School ages kids tend to want a room by 4/5 years old and are more aware of wanting their own space. But up to you when you guys feel it’s best.

Our first was in our room until almost a year old because she was still waking up for nighttime feeds and it was more convenient for her to be in our room already. We had a mini crib that fit fine so I didn't see the point in making it harder on me to get up and get her 2-3 times a night. I moved her when I was trying to cut back her nighttime feeds because she was doing it more for comfort than necessity and Mama was TIRED.

It's recommended that baby share a room with you for the first year though you absolutely don't have to do that. My first daughter got moved into her own room at 6 months and my second daughter got moved into her own room at 15 months because she was fully breastfed so it was just more convenient for her to be in our room otherwise I probably would have moved her sooner.

We moved our son into his own room when he was 9 weeks. He would snort and grunt in his sleep and it made it hard for us to sleep so we kicked him out lol. He was sleeping 9+ hours through the night so it wasn’t an inconvenience at all to have him in another room.
