Is it messed up or selfish to get pregnant when your 1st child is only 8 months old ?

I’m coming up on a period & I missed a few pills and have been having unprotected sex with my husband. I’m starting to get scared and nervous and feeling like if I was pregnant I would feel guilty because she’s still so little...I know she would be about a year and. A half by the time I had another baby but still that seems like it would be so hard ...what do you think

My mom did three kids in three years. It’s not messed up at all. She always got side-eyed in public, but who cares what they think. My husband and I are going to have to do two consecutive kids due to fertility treatments and moving for work.

Why would it be selfish? I have 3 brothers who are each 11 months apart and I have a 9 month old and am pregnant again. I’m stoked to have them 18 months apart. Most people like a 2 year age gap. Is 6 months really going to make that big of a difference? That was my thought process. I’m excited to see my kiddos grow up and be so close with each other.

If anyone thinks it’s selfish they should never have a second child in my opinion. No child after your first will ever get the same undivided attention your first got....as no subsequent children will ever have a period of time of being the only child. All of the kids in my family (siblings and cousins) are close in age 13 months-18 months apart. We’re all well adjust humans who understand sharing, responsibility and have good relationships with each other. 
It’s not selfish unless you don’t want a second child.

My son turned one in September and I am due in 3 weeks with his little brother. At times I feel sad he won’t be the baby, but I have three sisters and we are all close in age (We are 35,34,33 and 29) and we are very close. Through difficult times I’m so grateful to have them. My parents taught us to value each other and that’s what I’ll pass on to my boys. They will be 14 months apart. I have no doubts it’s gonna be difficult...but I also think it’s worth it!

Currently in this situation, and yes there is guilt I think there’s always a bit of guilt when your making your first child no longer an only child. But it’s also gratifying. My son hugs and kisses my belly, he doesn’t fully understand what’s going on but he knows somethings happening in my belly. It’s nerve wracking and exciting all at once, my kids get to grow up close in age and grow a bond. Yes it’s scary to have 2 under 2, or to have 2 kids so soon. But I’m also excited for all the things we will do, expanding our family, sharing all the beautiful moments and excitement of a new baby with my son, watching him learn to be a great big brother. The mom guilt is real, I feel bad for taking away his time as an only child that now he has to share mommy and daddy, but at the same time it’s all my daughter will ever know. It’s scary but I just want you to know it’s also so amazing and exciting. Find your silver lining 💕

Nope, not selfish! My girls were very close together like that, and our 3rd one will be too. I think it’s wonderful for them and we love it as well! They get along wonderfully.

To me- it’s selfish personally 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would be focusing on the child I have and needs my attention instead....

There’s nothing selfish about having more children! I personally waited to get pregnant until my little one was almost 2 because my toddler was still nursing and cosleeping, very dependent on me and I just couldn’t imagine sharing the time because she was so demanding. If you feel like the timing works out for you then that’s great! And even if it doesn’t necessarily feel right in the moment, a lot will change in 9 months and you have time to prepare.
