Do yall get checked at all of your appts? I was checked at 35weeks and they say its up to me each week now if I feel like I should be. Just wondering if I should or if it really matters as I see you can be dilated for weeks.

I’m 38 weeks, and have always declined. Declined all checks in my last pregnancy too, there’s no point to them. You could stay dilated for many weeks.

Every one always mentions the negative. Here's a positive and why I ALWAYS opt to be checked: At 38+5 with our 3rd a cervical check was the ONLY indication of our son being breech! He had not moved. I had an anterior placenta and every time my doctor did the stomach feel for position she believed he was head down. His head was in my ribs and his feet were twisted around his neck. His spine was twisted and his butt was sitting perfectly in position that my doctor was mistaking it for his head. His face was looking forward and his butt was turned completely to my right side. Delivery could have caused permanent injury or death during delivery for both of us! When she did the cervix check (first one of that pregnancy) she knew his head just didn't feel right and brought in an ultrasound machine. That's how we confirmed his position. So an unnecessary cervical check may have just saved my sons life and mine. But that's my personal experience and why I have them done.

I had a check at 35 weeks because I lost my mucus plug and had lots of cramping and pressure. I declined at 36 weeks, but had them check at 37 and 38.  If your doctor is careful the infection risk is very low.  I personally like to have the information.  Yesterday at 38 weeks I was 4-5 cm dilated... so I know it is much more likely to happen sooner rather than later (of course, no guarantees) and that my labor might be very quick, because I am pretty much half way there already and had a quick labor with my first.  I am happy I have that info so I can mentally prepare!  But I think it is totally up to you whether you want to know or not!

Yes I want to be checked because I’ve been having contractions since Wednesday. So just to know if I’m making change or if real labor is near. My pain tolerance is so high I didn’t know with my first I was in labor.

They check me everytime and I hate it.

I want to but they won’t until 39 weeks. They said data is “useless” much earlier because you can stay dilated at the same amount for days and weeks (or merely hours). They argue it’s not worth  introducing bacteria or getting my hopes up or down.

No ! Risks of infection ! Idk why your doctor would offer to check you he shouldn't be checking you this early anyways . My doctor only did checks at 40 only if you wanted he himself said there's no point since cervix can be completely closed and you can dialated and go into full blown labor within hours

They started checking me at 34 weeks. I opted out of week 35, was checked at 36 and opted out of 37 (today) because I’m being induced tomorrow. It’s so uncomfortable and I hate that it makes me spot.
