Aim to have sex a day or two BEFORE you ovulate. Sperm can live about 5 days inside you. The avg person ovulate approx 10-14 days after period. Once egg is released and traveling down fallopian tube it really can't be fertilized. There's a lot of helpful articles that can explain all this better.
