How will I know if my newborn needs newborn size or 0-3?

First time mom here. I’d hate to buy a bunch of newborn clothes that baby can’t even fit into after being born.

Only buy 6 new born onesies and maybe an actual take home outfit. 0-3 takes a month to grow into unless baby is about 8 pounds or so.

My newborn was 7lbs 6oz and fit in newborn clothes for around 2-3 weeks. Then I went to up to 1 month for a few more weeks, and 0-3 after them. I think I had about 10 newborn outfits/onesies and a handful of up to 1 month. They’re definitely worth having though as 0-3 is massive in those first stages, they’re still so curled up from being squished in for so long

Most babies fit their newborn clothes for about a month or so so I'd recommend just getting the essentials in nb & keeping the receipt just in case you have a big baby.

My daughter was 8 pounds 6 ounces and fit into newborn for like a month to a month and a half. I mainly kept her in fleece pj's because she was born at the end of January but it's worth having on hand for sure in my opinion

Newborn only fit my baby for the first 2-4 weeks then she was busting out. Get more 0-3m than Newborn so you dont have so many clothes that are too small.
