Anybody starting to freak out over working during covid?

where i live covid numbers are on the rise especially with college now being in session (currently 73 active cases) as well as now 59 new confirmed cases just today. I work at a medical office where more than half of our patients are college students and we are taking little to no precautions on how many patients we see a day and they are all in person. seeing about 35 patients per day. I've tried talking to leadership about this and they only tell us to wear PPE and that's all we can do. no switching back to telehealth appts or anything which I feel is ridiculous. I'm starting to get super freaked out because of this and being 30 weeks pregnant I'm scared something is going to happen and I will become positive one of these days with how little precaution we are taking. Is anyone else in this same boat and how are you coping with this? I'm not a licensed healthcare worker, just a medical assistant, so it really irks me when I'm told I "signed up for this".

Try to stick it out for another couple of weeks and stack up on your ppe. Then take fmla early if you can? And any paid time off. At least you can avoid it as it’s spiking worse, and not be pregnant later when you’re back at work?

Ugh that feels so unsafe regardless of how helpful, important, and courageous your work is.  I work at the state dept of health and it's frustrating how there arent more opportunities for remote and telehealth work when almost all of the social services got up and out of the office very quickly and efficiently.  (Plus I loved getting on a Skype call a coupe of years ago when I thought I had strep, who in the world wants to be sick in a waiting room??)  You would think your employer would see the cost benefit of getting more of their young population seen rapidly through telehealth even without a pandemic.  Boo hiss.  You think you are going to take leave earlier than planned because of this?

I’ve been working on the hospitals with patients this entire time. So no, not really. If anything we know more about it now than we did earlier this year and the medical response has been more coordinated than in the beginning. The PPE you wear should suffice. The standard PPE in hospitals I work in is a mask + goggles/face shield for non-covid patients. If your facility does not require goggles/face shields already you may wish to talk to your supervisor about wearing your own out of precaution but certainly no need to freak out.
