How do you feed baby if milk doesn’t come in until 2-5 days after birth?

Is baby supposed to drink the colostrum until milk comes in?
*i am 19 weeks and just trying to get some more information on this. Google can be confusing.

Yes .... I’m surprised no one explained that to you after delivery. It can take up to two weeks for some . For me i had colostrum for 3 days and then the real milk came in afterwards .

So long as a baby is full term and doesn’t have anything else going on medically, colostrum is usually sufficient for most babies so long as they are feeding 8-12 times a day and their weight loss is within normal range

Colostrum is plenty for a baby’s tiny belly. I’ve breastfed both of my babies and neither had anything other than breastmilk till 6 months.

There is a ton of nutrients in the colostrum for the baby to survive off of until milk comes in. Everyone is different with my first my milk came in day 2-3 but with all the rest of mine it came in within like 24 hours

Baby’s stomach is SO SO tiny those first couple of days and colostrum is so nutrient-dense. Your milk comes in just in time... it’s so crazy how the body knows just what to do. Your doctors and nurses will explain this to you as you get closer to and after delivery.
