Shady? (Need answers from hospital employees)

So I received a rejection email but the issue is, the rejection email states “thank you for interviewing with us.” I never had an interview. So I contacted HR at the hospital. They have no clue who this lady is. I contacted the med/surgery for the hiring manager there. They also had no clue who this woman is. I thought it was legitimate because it has the job number I applied to and it came from a hospital email. They addressed me by my last name in the email.

My brother told me it looks fishy because there is no letterhead. I’m thinking it is someone who is working remotely but he thinks otherwise. Even If the recruiter worked outside the hospital, HR should recognize the name. Also, the hospital email would have her name in it. The hospital email has a completely different last name. My aunt who’s an NP also thinks it’s weird.

I took it upon myself to reply to the email and explained how I never had an interview. I also wrote if the job is still available, I would still like to be considered. I am waiting on a response.
