What are Ph levels?

So I've encountered comments saying that soap or rubbing alcohol could throw of your Ph levels when used in your vagina. I don't know how this works and this terminology is kinda new to me. Can someone explain?

Hi future chemistry student! pH refers to the level of acidity or basicity of a solution. The pH scale indicates the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution. Normal vaginal pH ranges from 3.8 to 4.5 (which is moderately acidic technically) rubbing alcohol has a ph closer to 7-8, making it a "base". If you introduce it to the solution (your vagina) you alter the pH of the system. Normally this wouldn't be a major issue, but rubbing alcohol is a "solvent" and also an antiseptic, meaning it kills bacteria. Your vagina has bacteria (totally harmless and helpful) who along with the rest of the system work to maintain your vaginal pH. So rubbing alcohol will totally throw off the normal ph balance and also temporarily kill off helpful microbes that work to maintain it.
In terms that actually matter, it means the inside of your vagina will hurt like a bitch amd maybe itch.
