Positive pregnancy test...now what?

I just had two positive home pregnancy tests. Now I am wondering where I go to have this confirmed. Do I need to schedule an appointment with a primary physician, go to the hospital, or do I need to set up an appointment with the gynecologist. This is my first time going through this as I was told it would be difficult for me to become pregnant.

I would calm your primary doctor, they can help set you up for an ob appointment and refer you to an OB. ￼

Each doctor is different. I would figure out who you’d like you doctor to be and call their office. Mine did not need to confirm and wanted to see me between 8-12 weeks.

I just called my gynecologist office and said I need an appointment because I got a positive pregnancy test and they scheduled me with an OB for my 8-12 weeks first appointment. Super easy. No need to go to the hospital for a positive pregnancy test. They will look at you weird.

When I got pregnant with my son, I wasn’t established with an OB or primary care physician. I picked an office I knew was in-network with my insurance and read reviews for the OB’s online. I picked one, called their office and made an appointment. First appt was around 8 weeks. Make sure to pick up some prenatal vitamins with DHA and start taking them now.

You don’t go to the hospital. With all of my kids I scheduled with my primary and they confirmed and gave me a referral to my OB for insurance reasons (USA). Then I called the OB and scheduled nearly 9-10 weeks out. I was already taking prenatal pills.

You actually need an obstetrician(ob). Gynecologist is different. You can call an ob to set up appointment and they will confirm pregnancy at your first visit.

I found an OB I liked and called once I got a positive. They scheduled me for an ultrasound at the 8 week mark. Unfortunately I started having bleeding before then so they got me in earlier but it was nice to have established the initial contact so I had someone specialized to turn to instead of just my gp

Schedule an appointment with your primary doctor to confront then they can refer to an obgyn

You could also check with your PCP if you have on. They may just order a pg serum to check if you are pg. and then if you are unsure of your last period they may add in and check qualitative.    Also some Ob places require a referral so double check with the facility you will be using.  To get the referral you may need to go to a family practice doc/your PCP first.
