What do you think of weaning at 12 months?

I'm feeling guilty. My baby is almost a year old and was born premature. Because she was born premature i always anticipated breastfeeding until she was 2 to provide extra protection from illnesses. My problem is that im feeling really touched out. Its starting to drive me a bit crazy. I keep feeling like I should wean at 12 months, but I also don't know if I should wean if she isn't ready. She still breastfeeds a lot. Any advice? Did anyone wean successfully at 12 months? Or even just successfully cut back feedings?

I didn’t stop or cut back but I did set boundaries. He had a piggy he hugs when nursing instead of touching all over me ect. So try that too! My son will be 2 in January and I nursed my daughter till roughly 3 1/2

Baby is 11.5 months and I started gradually weaning already. I am going to miss it but I want my life back. I love breast feeding her. She is loosing interest herself too so it hasn’t been too bad. My plan is to be down to one session at 12 months

We just turned one a week ago, and she still wants boob, but I think my supple unfortunately is drying out. 😔 so I may not have a choice. I wanted to go till 2, even though she was only a little over 3 weeks early

I had to wear my first at 16 months due to my second pregnancy causing my supply to disappear. 
My second weaned himself at 13 months, though I wanted him to go longer. I was also pregnant then and I think it made the milk taste funny. But he had absolutely no issues weaning just after 1. He is 2 now and a great eater! Never messed with his weight or anything when he weaned.

I initially planned to begin the weaning process at 12 months to be done by 2, but I also have a preemie so won’t stop nursing during the pandemic (or flu/rsv season) so we’re nursing as much as ever at 15 months.  No tips, just solidarity.  It’s hard and you’ve done absolutely amazing making it this far!!

I had to wean a couple weeks before my first turned a year bc I was pregnant and my milk dried up. My goal was Always a year and I would wean shortly after anyway. My goal with baby number 2 is to wean around a year old. I think making it a whole year is a huge success so don’t feel bad. Your mental health is also important

You do whatever you want to do. I wanted to wean my daughter right at 12 months but it took a little bit longer and she was fully weaned at 13 months. She would still want to nurse every 2 hours and I couldn't do it anymore and I also found out I was pregnant early August and my milk supply was impacted like immediately and nursing became way too painful and I was ready to be done anyways.

100% cutting her off. I hate breastfeeding so I am not gonna  continue. Nothing to feel guilty about for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Idk why I even continued it at all.
